Principals will build systems and relationships that utilize the staff’s diversity, encourage constructive ideological conflict in order to leverage staff expertise, power and influence in order to realize the school’s vision for success. 100% Test Participation on EOC, ACCESS and ACT 2021/22
For the first time in the history of DPLC, we were able to achieve 100% participation in not only one state test, but three. This was an undertaking of an entire team of people leveraging relationships to get every student into the building and test. As the Testing Coordinator at DPLC, I could not be any more proud of our school and our team for getting this done.

Leadership Through Relationships
As a school leader its has always been important to me to build authentic relationships with my staff and students. To check in on them, support them and treat them in ways that they deserve to be treated. As such, I have had the privilege of fostering relationships with many of my teachers. Through these relationships we have been able to accomplish incredible things at our school.

Friday School Feedback
As a part of the Friday School initiative, it was important to me to gather qualitative data from teachers and staff regarding the first month of its implementation. In creating this survey, I wanted to gather teacher input on the strength of the initiative, as well as any feedback that could be given to make it stronger moving forward. It was important for me to give our staff a voice in this process. In the end, they are the ones in the trenches and can give the administrative team the best feedback for growth. |
DPLC PLC Meeting Questions-Blending Learning/Conferencing
Holton/PLC uses a blended learning model. Teachers that have been at our school for a number of years, understand what that means and have best practices to facilitate their instruction to students. Teachers that are new to our school, struggle with effective implementation of blended learning. We wanted to create a series of discussion questions for our PLC's to consider around blended learning and student engagement. The goal was to create a list of best practices that are utilized within our school and share it among staff. This is the start of a PD series that we will be implementing next year around student engagement and conferencing. |

School Board Meeting- January 11th, 2018
At the January 11th School Board meeting, seven of the the fourteen members of DPLA were appointed Assistant Principal positions in Durham Public Schools. As part of this honor, the DPLA cohort members attended the meeting to be recognized by the Board. We stayed in audience for the entirety of the meeting where we heard discussions regarding elementary school class sizes, teacher mentor coaching proposals, and a myriad of other district related agenda items. As a new leader in Durham Public Schools, I wanted to be present during this meeting to show my gratitude to both the Superintendent and the Board of Education for my school leadership appointment. |
